The Plot Outline (Making the Album)

A girl of 22 wearing platform boots and a lot of eye makeup plays bass guitar in various bands around her home town of Toronto Canada. In the meantime she spends very late night/early mornings writing her own songs, experimenting and playing around with sequencing and strange sounds and effects, chiming guitars and layers of very soft vocals so as not to wake sleeping roommates, all blanketed in the gurgling of her nearby fish tanks. She meets a keyboard player in a band that has come to town, they get to know each other and each others music and feel compelled to work together. He lives in England and they record in his studio in countryside that looks like the patchwork landscape of a fairy tale. It goes well and she moves to England and the pair continue working together and her first album is born. The earliest demo of one of the songs does in fact have that tell tale fish tank gurgling throughout. When she is 26 he is also working on his own music and she sings on three songs on his album. They travel to the countryside of Germany to mix his album and the pair meet the producer who will become a fast friend and who will produce her album. They return to England to fetch the songs they have put together over the last few years, write a few more and with all their synths and guitars theremins and accordions in tow, make the long drive back to the rolling hills of Bavaria to record her album that eventually acquires the title 'You are Found'.
(though the working title 'Bavarian Rhapsody' was hard to let go of)
They eat many pretzels and hob-nobs together, enjoy the night life of the local town and make music from the fall through the winter watching the horses they pass on the way to the studio gradually grow their fuzzy winter coats in brown black and grey.

Cast of Characters

Erin Lang
Is the central character, brown hair blue eyes, creative dress sense (it has at times been suggested that her various colour or pattern combinations look like she may have dressed in the dark) inspired by love and fantasy, poetry, fleeting moments, first stars, flocks of migrating birds, outer worldly, paranormal or everyday things.
The singer and songwriter, plays guitar and bass.

Roger O'Donnell
Writes together with Erin, has a big influence on her musical tastes and has had a gradual effect on the structure of her song writing. Was a key voice in convincing her to work more seriously on her own material. Is the musical director of the album and plays keyboards, piano accordion and wine glass on the album along with some programming. Has been in many great and influential bands. Writes his own amazing music that paints intricate and mesmerizing audio pictures. Roger is nearly unbeatable at the grab-a-toy machine.

Mario Thaler
Producer- A fiery character full of ideas and enthusiasm Mario is passionate and adventurous in the studio running drums through vocoders guitars through moogs through vintage space echos and animating the faders on his pride and joy vintage neve desk. He is patient with those recording and has a great sense of vision also a flare in kitchen. His specialties are pasta lunches and apple strudel. Also a contender in the mornings grab-a-toy challenges and the studio begins to fill up with furry creatures.

(as well as a producer he is the owner of Uphon Studios in Weilheim Germany where the album was recorded)

Ron Flieger
Engineer- the calm and collected voice of reason of the group Ron is a singer and songwriter and multi instrumentalist in his own right and has a strong sense of the pop song. always has a fresh idea or an in tune guitar to lend he is a master editor and and a great source of encouragement. He also kindly saves Erin from her sometimes average guitar playing and plays some wonderful guitars on the album.

Christoph Brandner
Lends rhythm to the group and regales us with tales of free jazz in the USA from the 1950s and 60s. (though he is in his 20s and German) He plays interesting and creative things on the drum kit and he sure can play laid back after some coaxing. He loves English Tea we all look forward to drum days and the spine he brings to the songs. He plays drums in other bands Lali Puna, Console and Mexican Elvis.

Steve Lang
Had a profound effect on Erins childhood love of music and a direct impact on her career path (being a bass player himself). He taught her at an early age how to pick out the harmony parts of Beatles or Beach boys songs and encouraged her to learn trumpet parts or bass lines from classic records. He drove her to King City to buy her first four-track through and add in the 'Buy and Sell'. It was Erins great honor to have her Dad come to Germany and play bass on one of the songs on her album.

Maria Isabel Arango
Maria is from Colombia and studies at art school in New York City. Erin found her one day trolling though the internet and felt immediately connected to her work. The fantasy scenes and subject matter, the sometimes sketchy sometimes painterly execution. Maria agreed to do the artwork for 'You are Found'.
